Description Wintegra designs access packet processors used in networking equipment. Its WinPath semiconductors let network operators migrate from ATM cells to Internet protocol (IP)-based packets; the chip design supports more than 60 communications protocols, for increased flexibility. The company markets chips for the WiMAX wireless networking standard, which may replace Wi-Fi for wireless access to the Internet, and for other standard specifications. Wintegra entered the semiconductor intellectual property market with its WinIP line. Customers have included Alcatel-Lucent, Fujitsu, Nokia Siemens, and Tellabs. Wintegra filed for an IPO in mid-2010; it was acquired by PMC-Sierra late that year.
