Ambitious plans to create a new cultural hub in Coventry city centre have reached an important milestone, with ISG appointed to transform the city’s former IKEA building into a large-scale cultural landmark with facilities for residents and visitors to enjoy. ✨ Cllr David Welsh, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Coventry City Council, says: 🗨️ "I'm delighted that we have appointed a contractor and that work is now starting on what will be a really impressive new cultural landmark in the city. One that will be enjoyed by local people, visitors and of course the creative sector. We recently completed work on the design and construction of Harris Academy sixth form in Rainham, procured through the Department for Education (DfE) framework 🏫 The new build sixth form offers a response to the lack of post-16 education places in the surrounding area, with the completed project now able to accommodate up to 400 students. The completed project consists of private study areas, a library, dining spaces, ICT suites, science laboratories and state-of-the-art spaces for design and technology. The sixth form also incorporates inclusive design elements for students with special educational needs, with specialist rooms featuring adjustable lighting and soundproofing to create sensory-friendly environments. Strong collaboration and early engagement between project partners ensured transparency and accountability, which led to an early project handover, facilitating a smooth transition for the students into the new learning environment. ...Show more
