Description Go West, young men and women, and join the 10,000 students who attend University of West Georgia (UWG). UWG students can major in some 110 areas through the university's schools and colleges (Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, and the Graduate School). UWG also allows select high school students to earn both college and high school credits simultaneously. UWG also offers a full program of distance education via the Internet through its eCore program. The school was founded in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School in Carrolton, Georgia. The school became State University of West Georgia in 1996; it dropped "State" from its name in 2005.
