Ford Meter Box (named after its original 19th century product), manufactures waterworks brass valves and fittings, water meter setting equipment, water meter testing equipment, and products for pipeline maintenance and restraint. Its products include adapter flanges, casing spacers, couplings, copperhorns, restraints for ductile iron pipe and PVC pipe, lid covers, and of course, meter boxes. The company sells internationally through its export division; sales in the US are handled by distributors. During the 1960s Ford Meter Box introduced the ball valve, an industry first. In the1980s the company was also an industry pioneer with its introduction of check valves as part of meter settings.
