Self-Insured Schools of California (SISC) is an insurance society and risk management organization that pools the resources of various school districts in California to purchase health, workers' compensation, and other property/casualty insurance for school district employees and facilities. All board members are school district employees, as are the organization's administrative personnel. More than 365 educational agencies are members of the group, which utilizes such providers as Blue Cross of California, CIGNA, Kaiser Permanente, and Delta Dental. SISC is managed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office.
