Description The Bastrop Independent School District is a proud public school system in the picturesque Lost Pines of Central Texas. With the beautiful Colorado River running through our city, we are conveniently situated just 30 miles SE of Austin, 100 miles NE of San Antonio, and 130 miles W of Houston.
Bastrop ISD serves nearly 11,350 students from the communities of Bastrop, Cedar Creek, and surrounding communities. We have two comprehensive high schools, an early college high school, and a nontraditional high school. We also have two middle schools, two intermediate schools, six elementary schools, and a DAEP. We also operate two award-winning, licensed childcare facilities for staff and teen parents.
One of the largest districts geographically in the state, Bastrop ISD covers nearly 450 square miles. We are also the largest employer in the county with approximately 1,300 employees. Classroom teachers make up the bulk of our employees.
