Description Perhaps students taking a really tough test wish for mercy at University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). Michigan's largest and most comprehensive Catholic university is sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and the Religious Sisters of Mercy. UDM has an enrollment of about 5,700 students at its three campuses (two located in residential northwest Detroit and one in downtown Detroit). It offers about 100 academic programs, and paid internships around town. The school was formed in 1990 through the merger of University of Detroit (founded in 1877) and Mercy College of Detroit (founded in 1941).
