Description WPI is one of the nation's first engineering and technological institutes; Waukesha-Pearce Industries (also WPI) is where WPI graduates and others can pick up the tools of their trade. The company's Engine Division designs and distributes engine-driven equipment, from power generators to pumps, blowers, and switchgear. Its Construction Machinery Division offers a slate of heavy construction and mining products, including earth movers and demolition equipment made by such OEMs as Komatsu and Gradall Industries. WPI also sells used equipment and leases heavy earth-moving equipment. Louis M. Pearce, Sr. founded the company's predecessor, Portable Rotary Rig Co., in 1924. WPI is owned and run by the Pearce family.
