The university offers a Juris Doctor degree at its School of Law, one of three in Washington State. The Roman Catholic university is run by the Society of Jesus -- the Jesuits -- and is named after a sixteenth-century Italian Jesuit, Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of youth. The university was founded in 1887. In addition to its main campus in Spokane, Washington, Gonzaga University has a campus in Florence, Italy, where Aloysius Gonzaga lived as a student.
