      Description Hoping to be first in the hearts of its customers, The First Bancshares is the holding company for The First, a community bank with some 18 branch locations in southern Mississippi's Hattiesburg and surrounding areas. The company provides such standard deposit products as checking and savings accounts, NOW and money market accounts, and IRAs. Real estate loans account for about 80% of the bank's lending portfolio, including about equal portions of residential mortgages, commercial mortgages, and construction loans. The bank also writes business loans and consumer loans.
