Description Indian Motorcycle, founded in 1901, is on the road again after being bought by Stephen Julius (founder of London-based private equity firm Stellican Ltd.) and his US partner Steve Heese. The duo claimed the iconic Indian Motorcycle from the auction block in 2004, along with the company's intellectual property, and engineering and design rights. It also moved its headquarters and craftsman operations to North Carolina from California. The venerable V-twin heavy cruiser Indian Chief, with trademark valanced fenders, teardrop headlights, and Indian headdress mascot, re-debuted in early 2009. Indian Motorcycle was acquired by Polaris Industries, a company best known for all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles, in 2011.
