Description Hansen Transmissions designs and sells gearboxes for wind turbines, a component that helps speed rotation for energy generation. The company is capable of manufacturing about 7,300 MW per year and serves four of the world's top five gear-driven wind turbine OEMs. Hansen has manufacturing, testing, and assembly facilities in Belgium and in lower cost production countries, including China and India. It also maintains international service centers that provide aftersales repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance. The company sold its Industrial Transmissions (HIT) division in spring 2011 to Sumitomo Heavy Industries. India's Suzlon Energy is the company's largest shareholder, with a 26% stake.
