JS Childrenswear, itself, isn't wrapped in swaddling cloth, but some of its customers are. The company makes and sells apparel for children, from infants to age 12 under the Adams Kids brand. It sells through some 120 outlets located in the UK and Ireland and peddles its products through other retailers, as well as online. Competition from discounters ASDA, Tesco, and Primark, which dominate the childrenswear market, online retailers, and the global recession, has led to slumping sales and store closures. Founded in 1933 by Amy Adams, who sold baby clothes out of her home, the childrenswear chain (formerly known as Adams Childrenswear) is in administration for the third time in as many years.
