When the Brookfield Zoo Chicago was founded nearly 100 years ago, people lived closer to nature and the land, and radio was the hottest new technology. While the world has changed dramatically since then, one thing is still the same – our mission to inspire conservation leadership by engaging people and communities with wildlife and nature. We inspire and engage people and communities and serve over 2 million Brookfield Zoo guests each year. We are known for our cutting-edge research, state-of-the-art animal welfare and veterinary care, and innovative education and other programs for people of all ages. We strive for the highest standards and best practices in animal care, behavioral research, animal nutrition, and exhibit design. Our teacher training and community-based education programs and events reach more than 200,000 people annually and encourage everyone to understand and appreciate the critical importance of wildlife, nature, and the environment around the globe.
