Description MagnaChip is a pretty big chip off the block. The company was formed to acquire the nonmemory operations of Hynix Semiconductor, one of the world's largest producers of memory devices. MagnaChip primarily offers flat-panel display drivers, used in high-definition televisions, LCD TVs, mobile phones, notebook PCs, and PC monitors. It also does a large business in silicon foundry (contract semiconductor manufacturing) services. Companies of the LG Group, primarily LG Display, are MagnaChip's biggest customers. Most of the company's sales are in Asia. After going through bankruptcy reorganization in 2009 and an abandoned IPO attempt in 2010 due to a weak market, MagnaChip completed a public offering of stock in 2011.
