Maybe a smart is the car for you. smart, a subsidiary of Daimler AG, is a maker of supermini cars and is a member of the Mercedes-Benz model line-up (about 11% of sales). The smart fortwo (two-seater) comes as a cabriolet (soft top) or coupé, with minor variations such as a hybrid motor. smart moved from red to black when in 2008 the company posted a profit, due in part to the successful launch of the car in the US, which became the 37th country to sell the smart fortwo, and has become the biggest market for smart after Italy and Germany. In 2009 smarts will also be sold in Brazil, China, and Denmark; a new electric smart is planned for a 2010 launch.
