EnOcean is starting a wave of new technology that creates energy from the unseen. The company makes wireless sensors that run on energy derived from even the slightest deviations in temperature or pressure, freeing them from requiring batteries or any other external power sources. OEMs use EnOcean's sensors to create products for building and home automation (the company is a major contributor to the development of intelligent buildings), industrial manufacturing, and automotive technology, among other applications. The company, spun off from Siemens AG in 2001, has offices in Germany and the US. EnOcean has raised more than E20 million in private equity funding.
