Description Just like its namesake bay at the foot of Mount Fuji, Suruga Bank wants to be deep and wide. Formed in 1895, the bank serves the greater Tokyo area through more than 125 branches. Suruga offers mortgage loans, personal loans, credit cards, and wealth management products. The bank caters to the small and medium enterprise markets, strategically targeting the self-employed, working women, senior citizens, and the newly wealthy. In 2008 Suruga formed an alliance with Japan Post Bank to expand their consumer loans business. Under the deal, Japan Post (with its extensive branch network) handles home loans in partnership with Suruga. Suruga Bank also offers home loans exclusively for foreign residents of Japan.
