In addition to set-top boxes, the company makes digital video recorders (DVRs), cable modems, and network transmission and distribution equipment used in the central offices of broadcasters. In 2006 Scientific-Atlanta was acquired by Cisco Systems for about $6.9 billion. It is now part of Cisco's Advanced Technologies product segment.
