The little independent publisher that could, The Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group publishes and distributes some 1,500 academic, reference, and general interest books. The company also publishes about a dozen journals. In addition, Rowman & Littlefield owns National Book Network (NBN), a distributor of independent trade book publishers, and NBN International, a leading distributor of independent publishers in the UK. The company was founded in 1975 by Raymond D. Fellers and chairman Stanley D. Plotnick; company president and CEO Jed Lyons joined Rowman & Littlefield later that same year.
