Geokinetics is a global provider of geophysical services primarily to the oil and gas industry. It acquires seismic data in North America and internationally and also processes and interprets that data at processing centers in the US and the UK. The company's seismic crews work in a range of terrains, including land, marsh, swamp, shallow water, and difficult transition zones (between land and water). Not dependent on any one customer, its client base consists of international and national oil companies, as well as smaller independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. In 2010 Geokinetics purchased the onshore seismic data acquisition and multi-client library business of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS).
