This week, we volunteered at the annual Strawberry Tea at Culpeper Community Garden, a much-loved tradition that has been bringing together local pensioners for 37 years.🌿 Located in the heart of Islington, Culpeper is a vibrant green oasis run by and for the community. Events like this one highlight what makes it so special. From prepping strawberries and setting up the garden to sharing tea and conversation with guests, the day was full of warmth and connection. 🌿 The Garden Classroom 🌿 Over the past two days, colleagues from several of our sites came together to get their hands dirty for a good cause: supporting biodiversity and improving public green spaces for all! We partnered with The Garden Classroom at Newington Green, where we spent the morning pruning, weeding, planting flowers and shrubs, and creating mulch, all to help nurture this vital urban garden space. Located in Islington, the second most densely populated local authority in England and Wales, The Garden Classroom is doing essential work. With only 13% green space and 71% of residents without access to a private garden, their mission is to make nature accessible to everyone, not only for wellbeing, but to foster respect and care for the natural world. Taking part in yesterday’s Women in Construction Day at the Skills Centre in Earls Court was a fantastic initiative that continues to spotlight opportunity, empowerment, and community in our industry. It was an inspiring and insightful event, where we heard powerful career stories from women across the industry, gained valuable tips from successful professionals, explored the many rewards and opportunities in this dynamic field, and connected with likeminded individuals and strengthened our growing support network. Our team at 8 Eaton Lane collected donations of clothes and toiletries for Passage UK. During our visit, we were given a tour of the premises and had the chance to explore key areas such as the kitchen, washing area, main hall, volunteering department, and donation room. It was inspiring to see firsthand the essential services they provide to those in need. We also had a valuable Q&A session, where we learned more about the impactful work Passage UK does to support people experiencing homelessness and those at risk. The team at The Passage was incredibly grateful for our support, and we left feeling truly inspired by their dedication and the difference they’re making in the community.
