Twist Incorporated was founded in 1971 and began producing springs for the automotive industry in 1972. The newly founded company operated out of a 4,000 square foot building and had 5 full-time employees, located in Jamestown Ohio. Throughout the years, Twist’s capabilities have expanded to include: manufacturing of springs, wire forms, and stampings as well as a full metal fabrication facility. Twist has in-house tool and die capabilities to support the complex tooling required to manufacture the type of high-end custom parts produced. Twist also offers many secondary processes in-house such as: plating, powder coat, electro coat, nylon dip, shot peen, grit blast, and vibratory de-burr. Twist owns and operates eight facilities in Jamestown and Xenia Ohio, which totals to over 660,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and has approximately 300 full-time employees. Twist also built and opened a new manufacturing facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, in 2018.
As a diversification expansion in 2008, Twist pursued the aviation market with the design and development of a patented PCA air hose management system, The Boom Air®. In 2013, Twist further extended its aviation equipment product line to include large HVAC equipment, Pre Conditioned Air Units, that heat and cool commercial and military aircraft while stationary. The aviation products segment of the company is called Twist Aero, and we proudly manufacture a complete line of aviation ground support equipment.
Twist’s success over the years can be attributed to a corporate philosophy of diversification, reinvestment into the business and continuous innovation. Each of Twist’s specialized facilities are equipped with the highest quality industrial machinery, allowing each plant to efficiently be dedicated to a specific operation. This allows Twist to meet our customer’s needs completely, without the need to outsource or rely on a third party. We are proud of our reinvestment back into the company every year, with an average of 2-3 million spent on new machinery, technology and facilities. With this reinvestment philosophy, Twist has become a true, self-sufficient manufacturer.
