Combine a "J" with the Greek word for technical skill, "tekton," and voilà, you have JTEKT. The giant manufacturer of ball bearings and automotive steering devices has indeed got talent. Other automotive parts made by JTEKT include ABS sensors, constant velocity (CV) joints, oil seals, steering gear systems, and driveshafts. It also builds machine tools, factory automation systems, and heat technology products, such as industrial furnaces and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. JTEKT caters primarily to the automotive needs of Toyota Motor (which owns about one-quarter of JTEKT), and, to a lesser extent, other Asian, European, and North American automakers.
