Description Microtune wants to be your cable (chip) company. The company's chips enable broadband voice, data, and video communications in electronic gear such as car radios, cable modems and set-top boxes, digital TVs, DVRs, and PCs. Microtune expanded into the wireless area with its purchase of Transilica, but later exited the business. Microtune's customers include Cisco Systems, Unihan (a subsidiary of ASUSTeK Computer, Panasonic, Motorola, and Samsung Electronics. The company gets about two-thirds of its sales outside North America. In September 2010 chip maker Zoran agreed to buy Microtune for about $166 million, or $84 million net of cash.
