I worked at Absolute Spa full-time

    Pros

The ladies and gents in-spa are fantastic!

    Low pay
Upper management is not in touch with their employees
    Lack focus on employee happiness

    Advice to Management

Develop better relationships with your employees
Salary/staff commissions should be raised in proportion to your price increases

    Pros

The only pros are the nice people that work there.

    Cons

Don't work there, you will regret it. There is no air circulation. I always felt sick and had a lot of headaches. The air conditioning never works. You have to keep track of everything you do because there are always mistakes on your pay cheque. You are expected to come in early and leave late. There is absolutely no appreciation for the employees. The Absolute worst place I have ever worked!!

    Advice to Management

    Stop taking everyone for granted

I have been working at Absolute Spa full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've been working for Absolute Spa for over 10 years! Our staff get along very well and we are a very close team. I have been provided with all the tools I need to give my guests 5 service . We get yearly educational training from Young Blood , Aroma Associates, Spa Binge, Clarion and many more companies. A few years ago, I requested to work part-time to stay home with my family. I was told family comes first. The owners and management care about us and this is why we have so many long term staff.

    Cons

We don't interact with the other locations often, Maybe plan more company wide team building events.

    Advice to Management

Plan Vip specials for our loyal guests...

I have been working at Absolute Spa (More than a year)

    Pros

None- the estheticians and the RMTs are the only reason I stayed . They have become my friends

    Cons

I been an esthetician for a few years now and we get useless training , the last training I was forces to attend was from Young Blood and it wasnt even training it was just a show and tell about the product . We are not allow to try on services and if we do we have to pay full prices . Most of the good staff that actual care about the bussiness quit as a result of the lack of hours and services . If you get hire make sure you have a back up job because you will get put on call . No raises . Always on call . Dirty towels and broken equipment . Over priced services . Useless non pay training . The only reason I stayed is because of some of the staff that I develop good friendships with

    Advice to Management

Start by providing good linen and proper products so we can perform the over priced services we provide

I worked at Absolute Spa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The actual esthetians and concierges are very friendly

    Cons

You are disposable . They basically dont care how long you work for the company and how dedicated you have been to the brand . If you are an esthetician you have to be 100% available to work at all times . Most of the time you are placed on call and only call you if there are any spa services available . Estheticians are provided with no spa product training and they are pushed to sell customers with products that are not only overly expensive but that they are not able to try themselves . If you are a concierge you get no hours as the managers work alone most of the time . Some Managers abuse you -literally- they verbally harrased you and nothing gets done. No perks and incentives . They make it so is impossible to apply for benefits . Little wages for both concierges and estheticians

    Advice to Management

Recognize and retain the employees that actually care . Fire the managers that are horrible to the staff

I worked at Absolute Spa part-time

    Pros

A well-known high end spa in town and provided a wide range of different services. Most of the co-workers were nice, friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Low pay. Working hours were not guaranteed. Managers were not nice and supportive.

    Advice to Management

    Please value your employees!

I worked at Absolute Spa part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As a mother with 2 small children I found the work to be very flexible. This company definitely supports a strong work/life balance which I really appreciated. I got to utilize the skills I received at esthetics school right away, no working as a housekeeper/attendant for months before I got to see real clients.

    Cons

I wish I could have worked more full time, being only available on weekends made it tough for me to take advantage of weekly operational duties of the spa as I was so busy with clients.

    Advice to Management

More large company wide team meetings, I would have liked to get to know some of the team at different locations better.

I have been working at Absolute Spa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great management team
    Team oriented
Wide variety of fantastic products and services
Heavily involved in the community and philanthropy - They truly give back in so many ways
    High service standards
Great group of people at all locations
Offer additional and free training on anything and everything whenever you need/want it
Promote from within - always opportunities for advancement no matter what your current position is
Very understanding of personal issues and schedule needs, especially for those who have children
Great perks - UP TO 40% OFF on products!! Get to meet lots of celebrities! Unlimited vacation!
    Provide extended benefit coverage

    Cons

Need more locations outside of the Metro Vancouver area. (ie: Whiterock, Langley, New West etc. On Vancouver Island would be great also!)

Need more team events - the Christmas party is such a great time for everyone involved, it would be great if there were company wide gatherings like that more often, maybe twice a year?!?
