    Great Place to Work

May 6, 2022 - Real Estate Acquisitions, Associate in Austin, TX

    Pros

Working besides some of the smartest people in the industry. If you have a good idea, you will have a hand in its development/roll-out.

    Cons

Prior to management shuffling Amherst was easily the best work/team culture, environment and atmosphere I have ever been a part of. You were truly only limited by your work output. Great feeling to have....Once management changes started trickling through the business units everything changed....now it has way more of that "cog in the wheel" vibe.

Toxic Work Environment at Top Levels

    May 8, 2022 - Manager

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Possible that the CEO is not aware of the toxicity among leaders. If not, there might be hope. - The employees actually doing the job are incredible, intelligent with values that align with mine (most have quit)

    Cons

    - Colleagues pitted against each other - Frequent and disruptive org changes and office remodels - Every project is marked ASAP with no guidance or help - Extremely poor leadership - Hours are 24/7, be available or your life will quickly feel like a living hell - Promotions if it benefits your bosses agenda - HR doesn’t seem to have a handle on the situation - Work goes way beyond the job description

    Pros

I started at this company in 2021. Pros: benefits, company culture, encouragement to be autonomous and trust in employees to make decisions. The company feels like it truly listens to the opinions and advice for areas of improvement from its employees.

    Cons

Being a larger company and the largest company I have worked for there can be a bit of bureaucracy to deal with, in some ways it feels like the company is overstaffed in some areas which adds to the layers of decision making that can sometimes hinder growth. Benefits are amazing but compensation is fair but doesn’t necessarily feel competitive given recent economic issues (inflation etc.)

    No Support from upper management

Apr 20, 2022 - Financial Analyst in Austin, TX

    Pros

    Cool office overlooking Lake Travis

    Cons

Financial analysis team was expected to work grueling hours with no notice beforehand. Countless times we would be packing up for an "early" exit at 6pm and we would receive an email from an executive asking us for additional work. Instead of letting us pick up the work first thing tomorrow, my manager would expect us all to log back on and finish the work, even if it took until midnight.
