  1. "Worked there during the end of recession"

I worked at Baker Distributing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Getting to know the local contractors

    Cons

Sales were down due to not many houses being built at that time so they let everyone go including a counter sales guy that had been there for almost 30 years. Hired lower pay people and even they are now gone.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Baker Distributing full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Never run out of work, ever. Chance to learn a lot in a very short amount of time. Gets you right in the middle of the wonderful world of retail. Don't have to see your horrible boss everyday!

    Cons

Long days, being on salary, pathetic pay unless you brown nose and flirt with your boss to become a salesman, unrealistic work load, write ups for asking for help and not completing all of your work early to help someone else, horrible management, they only care that sales boom so they can continue to do absolutely nothing, you work at the mercy of a money hungry salesman, dealing with small backrooms.

    Advice to Management

If they had some management I would tell them who to fire, rebuild the management with actual managers, support the incredibly hard working merchandisers and warehouse workers instead of treating them like slaves, and make it possible for positive career growth.

    Pros

The industry is fun if you work for the right company.

    Cons

This company was managed by people that should have never been given the title. They tried to micro manage with no clue. They need to stop dipping snuff.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Baker Distributing full-time

    Pros

No micromanagement, freedom to work around personal issues that may arise, a lot of longtime employees to answer questions and train you, dress code not strict for a "corporate office"

    Cons

Compensation does not match expected output, outdated office surroundings, no posting of open positions, favoritism, not open to change even though growing every day, will only receive promotion if someone leaves or dies, no one takes ownership in a mistake even though there are no repercussions

    Advice to Management

Recognize the efforts of ALL employees. not just a xhosen few. Find a way to regulate the temperature in the building [after all, you are an air conditioning supply house]

I worked at Baker Distributing full-time

    Pros

    Good Co-workers
Good Customers/ You get the same customers regularly so you'll get to know all of them
    Good benefits

    Cons

Poorly managed. Multiple times issues arose because different parts of management disagreed with one another and both would try to slow the other down like children.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason there is chain of command. Make sure all employees follow it.

    Cons

Playing catchup with most things. The projects are not planned out and are impulse.
