Growing and failing fast

Pros

Corporate employees get lots of opportunities to work flexibly. There’s unlimited PTO if your workload allows for it (many jobs are overtasked) RV borrowing program is a nice perk Sincere co workers and plenty to do

Cons

Best place I’ve worked, until I The end. The bad: The rapid pace of growth has created a rapid and reactive decision making environment with little oversight on impact and strategy. Decisions are made reactively, desperately and quickly, then expected to be executed by over-loaded and under-appreciated teams immediately. There’s a lot of tail chasing, time wasting, and major opportunities lost. The ugly: Obvious lack of diversity. Some (not all) locations foster a hostile dealership “sales culture”. In my experience, leadership and HR didn’t react to complaints of harassment or discrimination.

Pros

Pay is ok, but it gets reduced the better you do. Some of the regional managers are stand up people. Fun industry.

Cons

Micromanagement to death. Upper management sets fantastical goals to look productive to the board/owner but completely ignore employee development, solve issues, broken departments, and unacceptable customer service. If you're not part of the club (Disgruntled former Camping World employees), you'll likely get passed up on opportunities for one of their buddies - who you'll then have to end up training how to be your boss. A "culture" of being "genuine and fun" or "we take great care of our customers and each other"... that falls flat on it's face when leaders are actually called upon to carry out said "culture". A faux sense of caring when your upper management finds out that your entirely burnt out (and ready to quit) from working 70 hours a week, complete with false promises of more time off, more help, and more "time with family"... All While they post pictures every weekend of attending their kid's ball games and fishing trips just days after they lecture you about how many hours they work. Extremely toxic people in regional management who openly denigrate, curse, and disparage other employees and other managers behind their backs regularly during meetings or even in front of other subordinates. As a company they're perfectly fine tolerating sexual harassment and a toxic work environment from you as long as you're a high producer. You'll be expected to rip every customer you can, regardless of client needs or harm done. You can expect the regional manager to come play big boy every so often and ALL of the real sales managers will roll their eyes because they know that anything he touches will be incomplete, out of process, and completely FUBAR. This company plays the "small, Christian mom and pop" persona as best it can, but really folks... how do you grow from 3 to 15 stores in less than 3 years if you aren't taking every customer you can to pound town? Save your soul, your sanity, your health, and your time... look elsewhere.
