  1. "Most coworkers enjoy working together as team which is pleasant, constant turnover of management is unpleasant."

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at CWI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, dental, paid vacation time are a plus, always extra hours to pick up.

    Cons

High union dues, weak union, unsanitary working conditions and safety issues are a concern. Career growth within company unavailable.

    Advice to Management

Schedule biweekly or monthly group meetings for the employees and management to get together and discuss concerns, troubleshoot, and share ideas. Some programs within CWI do this but not all and when they don't it makes the working environment for the consumers assistants very difficult.

I have been working at CWI part-time

    Pros

    - You can manage yourself a lot
    - You can develop yourself as you like
    - You have great research advisors
    - Its quite a name with a lot of great reputation.

    Cons

    - Sometimes to laid back
    - I dont know about competitiveness regarding salary
    - Its sometimes hard to see what other groups are working on

    Advice to Management

In my perspective, it could be more intense with some more pressure, but then again its nive that there are still workplaces which are enjoyable.

I have been working at CWI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really flexible work. Good salary, excellent level of research, relaxing environment and many social activities. Also, there are no teaching activities.

    Cons

The research groups are a bit isolated. Although there are monthly update meetings, the (research) interaction between groups could be improved.

    Advice to Management

Maybe try to focus more on the research collaboration among groups. And improve the food in the kantine!

    Pros

There are many great scientists in mathematics and computer science working in the building. It's a good place to have research experience with.

    Cons

Due to the economic situation, it's not likely to get a long term position there as a young researcher.

I have been working at CWI full-time

    Pros

    - goede secundaire arbeidsvoorwaarden
    - flexibel werk
    - makkelijke bureaucreatie
    - weinig leerverplichtingen

    Cons

    - weinig samenwerking
    - kleine groepen, iedereen doet zijn eigen ding
    - het meeste onderzoek is niet zo toegepast als ze het presenteren

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at CWI as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    (Translated from English)

    Pros

    Advice to Management
