Pros

Pros: You can drink alcohol after 5 to help get over the absolute misery that is your life at Ceterus.

Cons

There is no training. There are no reviews, until it’s too late (ie: it took over 1.5 years to even begin reviews and by that time, you’ve learnt that the things you’ve been “trained” on haven’t been done correctly.) Nothing is consistent. There are so many documents in Google Drive, most of them aren’t even correct and are so outdated. Pay is a joke. Not a single raise in over 1.5 years. Why am I still here, you ask? Because empty promises were made. And I expected more. But I’m on my way out. I’m ashamed to say I work here and I cannot wait to get out. There are many other employees who feel the same way, they are just too timid to say anything about it. There are so many who have already gotten out and moved on to better places. Work from home? Sure thing! If you want to get reprimanded and feel guilty about it. (Oh you didn’t know that if you work from home, you’re at the beach or something? Give me a break.) PTO? Absolutely! But only if it’s the 16th through EOM. Flexible work hours? You betcha! More like weekends and evenings or else you’re gonna have a hell of a hard time keeping up. Job security? Aww, how awesome! PSYCH! Ever heard of outsourcing? Yep. Company goals? Revenue. (I mean, don’t get me wrong, revenue definitely should be in a company’s top 3 goals. But you google the #1 goal of the most successful companies, and I guarantee that you will find Employee Happiness is #1.) Directors with ZERO management experience? You’ll def get that here. CEO used to be so awesome, he would come in and say hi to everyone. Now, when he comes in, he goes straight to his office with earbuds in and head down. Makes me so sad. Bottom line: If you want to be respected, make decent money, enjoy your job and be proud of where you work and who you work for, keep moving along in your career search. If you want to work with a bunch of amateurs, selfish leaders, work 50+ week, empty promises - then this is perfect for you.

Pros

-Beer -Young office -Ping pong -Ok happy hours

Cons

- You will be underpaid and overworked. From day one as a staff accountant, I was working 50 to 55 hours a week. Hours only increase as you moved up at Ceterus. Ceterus boast about their "unlimited PTO" if you happen to take more than three days of PTO the backlog is laughable. - Everchanging management and procedures. The "we are a startup thing change" needs to stop being said. We have been around since 2008! I have worked for a startup of fewer than two years and it was more stable than Ceterus. - This is not an accounting position this is a bookkeeping position. From SBA pod leader/Senior accountant to staff accountant. - Non-"accountants" working as "accountants." I understand the need of our Customer Success Managers (CSRs) but they are not accountants but Ceterus thinks they are. Additionally, 70% of the accounting/bookkeeping work is done by a team in India and Indonesia. - The software is unreliable. - Turnover rate is out of control! When I started at Ceterus two years ago the CEO's selling point was the low turnover rate. If Ceterus can hold on to an accountant for a year it is considered a blessing. Never the less, when Ceterus has accountants that want to stay they fire them in mass. - Unrealistic client and oversold clients. - The uncertainty of the direction the company is heading. - Zero transparency from upper management. - Zero diversity unless we are talking about our partners in India and Indonesia. - Benefits are not competitive and please stop saying they are.

Pros

This is a make your own schedule but you still had a standard amount of work that had to be completed. As long as you got all your were done by the deadlines it was nice to be able to create your own schedule. There was a good atmosphere till the more recent months when employees were dropping like flies. The pay wasn't the best but the benefits help make up for that with unlimited PTO and the ability to work from home. (though I see that being taken away in the future with the way the company is going). Finally got 401K but health insurance plans changed and became more costly to those with families. They do happy hour every day after 5 and have ping pong and other various games/sports the company employees participate in.

Cons

There is no leadership, there is constant change in management till they run out of people to promote and just merge departments together and give them a new name. There is no training whatsoever. So when you start you are just thrown in and expected to perform like those that have been there for months already. They say they want you to know what is going on in the company and have monthly meetings about it but then all of a sudden a huge change comes that they don't tell you about and try to act like they gave you a warning meanwhile they are still trying to put on the act that they need accountants. (The job postings everywhere for all positions of accountants to make it look like they are looking but not one accountant has been hired in months. They complain departments need more accountants to handle all the work but they never hire, they just offshore more and more. They say things to make you think your job is secure for awhile and then one day you walk into work and they tell you they found a way to have someone in India do you job at a lower cost.
