I worked at Colas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colas really does take great care of their employees. The benefits are great and, if you apply yourself and are willing to move, there are opportunities all over the world at Colas.

    Cons

In the US, the pay is a bit lower compared to similar jobs around the country. However, the benefits and work/life balance, as well as company loyalty, balances the scale.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving forward in modernizing internal processes and benefits as well as external innovation.

I worked at Colas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The hours are predictable and you will not be overworked. The people are a lot of fun, the atmosphere is pretty laid back and informal.

    Cons

Despite the company's large size, there isn't much room for upward mobility. The US-based IT dept is just too small.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Colas (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you're part of the country club culture you will rise within the organization but if you are not, good luck. The French influence is good and bad. The good first....they value their natural resources (aggregates, equipment). The bad...they don't value their people.

    Cons

As I commented above, they run a country club environment.

    Advice to Management

Cut out the country club culture in Sully Miller.

    Cons

Very large company. A lot of employees

    Advice to Management

Don't forget that the little guy actually doing the work is the only way any of us gets paid.

    I worked at Colas full-time

    Pros

Colas in the UK is a diverse business, trying to move up from its traditional base as a tier 2 contractor. There are many committed and hardworking personnel across the company and throughout the ranks. It's possible to advance your career and they are actively trying to improve benefits.

    Cons

Lack of communication across the business is inevitable in part due to the diverse locations, but is also encouraged in certain areas. There is a deep-rooted blame culture which is in danger of stifling the creativity of personnel.
Strategy also shifts almost by the month.

    Advice to Management

You employ many talented and committed people. Try letting them do what they are paid to do!

I have been working at Colas (Less than a year)

    Pros

COLAS could be a great start for your career, as your self-development is a major concern for this company. COLAS could offer you many opportunities to work abroad, and aim to develop your knowledge and your competences through practice in the group's various divisions. Basically a way to never stop experiential learning. COLAS is also well known for granting notable advantages or benefits in kinds.. .

    Cons

You have to be manageable and show some appetite and ability regarding your geographical mobility for those seeking fast progress. Sometimes COLAS is victim of its own size, you have to be comfortable with the fact that you will probably never get in touch with all your colleagues.

    Advice to Management

Never stop integrating new elements via the basics of the job, on site.
