All of the negatives about this workplace surround the major female owner. She was never involved in the hiring process, and I can see now why she wasn't. On my first day, she yelled at me for a minor mistake I made that I didn't even know I was doing incorrectly. I wrote it off as her probably having a bad day. But the next day (and every day after that), she kept nagging and screaming about the most menial things, like the staple being in the wrong corner of the paper.
Being a small company (and therefore having a small office), it was also off-putting when other more senior employees were not willing to stand up for you during or after one of the owner's screaming spells. Nobody dared cross her, but I can't blame them—they didn't want to be her next victim. I felt completely helpless working there.
On one of my last days at the company, I was putting together a PowerPoint presentation, and for whatever reason, a couple of the slides didn't print (unbeknownst to me). I dropped the presentation off at her office. When she noticed the two pages missing, she came out to my cubicle and called me a f**king r**ard and asked me if I had any brain cells left.
