I worked at Convergence Training full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work environment with huge opportunities to learn, teach, and grow. Designers can flex a large variety of creative muscles creating e-learning content with motion graphics and 3D animation. The owner is an absolutely fantastic guy (and so are the other owners who have their own departments - they are all great) and there are just so many wonderful people to work with.

    Cons

There have been some small bumps along the way, but overall no serious cons. The company is still working to expand products and forms of revenue to be able to offer designers bigger creative challenges and better opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Someday when the time is right, it might be worth while to hire an experienced Art Director or Creative Director to lead artistic vision. Someone everyone can unequivocally look up to and respect for their irrefutable leadership and creative mastermind.

I have been working at Convergence Training full-time

    Pros

Laid back, friendly environment. Employees are genuinely concerned about customers and the quality of their products and services. Always trying to improve and willing to learn from mistakes. Very flexible with personal life situations. Tend to think outside of the box and look for creative solutions to challenges. Average length of employment length is very high. Encourage skills development and collaboration. Reward proactivity, dedication, and innovation.

    Cons

Dynamic work environment can be difficult for those who prefer structure and rigid guidelines. Non-traditional outlook may not suit people used to routines or certain ways of handling things.

I have been working at Convergence Training full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

In the software department you get to use a broad range of technologies, and creativity is rewarded. You won't be micro-managed. No VB6 or legacy applications to deal with, you get to use C# & jQuery. With the small team you can become an expert at a couple parts or be a jack-of-all trades and work on lots of different things.

    Cons

It's a small company and there isn't a whole lot of hand-holding, so you have to be a self-starter..

    Advice to Management

Transparency is getting better, keep up the work.

I have been working at Convergence Training full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some really smart and talented people working here, and their dedication to building a thriving business is inspiring. Plenty of opportunities if you're willing to take initiative. Great benefits and a comfortable work environment. Poised for tremendous growth, so it's a good time to be on board. Co-workers are friendly and generally happy. Low turnover and very little inter-office politicking.

    Cons

Not much done to develop a company "culture". Employees put their heads down and power through the day. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not the place for you if you're looking for Friday happy hours and that sort of thing.

I have been working at Convergence Training full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Convergence is a tremendous place to work. The work ethic is unbelievable, with dedication and hard work readily rewarded. Advancement opportunities abound. I have had the privilege of working with incredibly smart and caring people for nearly 4 years. This will be my last job because there is no employer that could hold a candle to this place. We also get to work with some of the latest technology. Also, the new office building is amazing!

    Cons

Occasionally we work longer hours, but we are rewarded for the hard work.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Convergence Training full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A great opportunity to put your own stamp on products. Management listens to all ideas and is open to change. Very compassionate to employee needs. Production team is a great group of people who are always competing to produce the highest quality work yet still will drop anything they have going on to teach a new trick or offer feedback.

Since joining the company, I have been given opportunities and rewards that have consistently made me feel that my career is advancing in a positive direction.

    Cons

Area around office is suburban and comprised mostly of strip malls, although Portland is nearby. Being a small company, we are all expected to take on a large number of tasks at any one given time and do them well the first time. Those who can't maintain focus may struggle.

    Advice to Management

Continue treating employees like your most valuable asset.

Lots of opportunity to develop new skills in a wide variety of disciplines including 3d modeling, composting, rendering, illustration, and even technical writing. Every department has extremely talented and dedicated people willing to go the extra mile in order to ensure customer satisfaction. Cares deeply about employee input.

    Cons

Growing pains that go along with any developing company. Not knowing exactly what is coming can be scary for some but is also what makes working there exciting and unique.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build the company culture
