I worked at Cook Medical Inc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Excellent benefits
    - Good job to go to right after college, purely for the sake of experience

    Cons

    - Management is partial to hiring relatives/people they know
    - Employees that are competent and pull their weight are undervalued
    - Pay is a joke. Currently making $5 an hour more doing the same thing I was doing previously.
    - Fellow coworkers are hit or miss. Either they're a joy, or they call you stupid in front of a board of executives at another company.
    - Management doesn't handle inappropriate exchanges very well. Instead of reprimanding an employee that made a borderline sexually harassing comment, said employee gets a slap on the wrist.

    Advice to Management

Quit being partial and actually value the employees that do the work. Micromanaging is not very becoming at any company and from any manager.

I worked at Cook Medical Inc full-time

    Pros

The people are generally nice and the company makes quality products. Employees are almost never laid off or fired, so job security is high. Benefits are solid.

    Cons

Stagnation. There's a culture of complacency and caution that makes it very difficult to advance new ideas. If you're looking for a place to put in your 8 hours/day and not really be challenged, this is the place for you. But if you're ambitious and have ideas, look elsewhere.

I have been working at Cook Medical Inc (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work at the facility in Spencer, IN and it is like a family. The HR team is very helpful with whatever is needed.

    Cons

Group Leader, Supervisor positions do not pay more so it is hard to take on more responsibility for no more money.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay when employees take on extra responsibility, and be more helpful with giving employees the experience they need in order to move up in the company.

    Pros

Cook has very good Benefits...and offer a choice of hours/shift in most departments...Cook has a clean working environment

    Cons

Annual raises vary by department/manager rather than across the board pay....some departments work with hazardous materials that could prove very harmful in the long run

    Advice to Management

Keep employees informed....train department supervisors...seminars/classes in employee relations...Ive had 3 different supervisors in my department and it seems they have no training but are placed according to preference

I have been working at Cook Medical Inc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Cook Culture is kind and caring
    Great benefits
Executive team takes the time to communicate and listen
    Impactful work

    Cons

Middle management is a giant power struggle.
"Where do you see yourself in five years" is a great question... because Cook does not have clear career paths.
Wants to be a modern company, but takes the smallest baby steps to make it happen.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your middle management isn't scaring away the good talent. People don't leave jobs, they leave bad bosses.
