    I worked at Doneger full-time

    Pros

A good amount of freedom to do your job without much supervision. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Not the greatest when it comes to performance reviews. Advancement is challenging

I worked at Doneger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learning about the industry from a different perspective. Consulting, rather than selling or buying.

    Cons

The higher ups don't like to let go of their reigns and let their assistants do work. After all, that is why they are your assistant. You are basically a sample runner. If you are okay with doing bare minimum work and don't mind being bored, this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Let the recent grads and younger workers thrive and show their skill sets. Stop limiting them to "busy" meaningless work, they want to grow and learn more within the industry not be your personal assistant.

    Pros

Great people to work with. As an intern, I was able to do substantial quality work and even get to go to the annual baseball game at Yankee Stadium.

    Cons

There was no windows in the office I worked in, though I did get my own cubicle.

Work environment is old, not collaborative, very old fashioned.

I have been working at Doneger as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the business, this is not an internship where you will be getting coffee, you feel immersed as a part of the team

    Cons

Slow progression and communication is seriously lacking

I worked at Doneger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unrivalled access to the country's best retailers.

    Cons

Management was very old school, awash with micro-managers, not transparent with staff.
    Divisions didn't share enough resources.
    Not tech savvy enough.
Immediate superior was incompetent and pitted employees against each other all the time.

    Advice to Management

Invest in technology. Be more creative and flexible. Test your hires for competencies.

    Pros

They want their interns to be as involved as possible. Better pay then some other companies. Office closes at 5:30 (on the dot). Very friendly employees and atmosphere.

    Cons

Old school type of company, lack of advanced technology. Not a lot of interns (about 6 or 7). Small company with employees.

I worked at Doneger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good experience for more junior staff to make contacts and learn the ins and outs of merchandising

    Cons

Business model is tired, people work there too long and become uninspired and closed off to change. Very little growth. Salaries are low.

  11. "Friendly atmosphere but very slow paced"

I have been working at Doneger as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone here is very nice and are very accommodating for their clients. There are many departments within the company that creates a diverse atmosphere. For example, there are the market and trend analysts, Price point buyers, etc.

    Cons

The turnover rate is low. If not all, majority of the Analysts are 55 and older and the assistant analysts and buyers are in their mid to late 20's
