Pros

-Great people in the Louisville office -Decent pay and benefits -Nice location -Some travel

Cons

-The President and Executives are completely oblivious to the Louisville office as they are distributed. -Employees are bullied by supervisors. -Huge employee turnover. -Toxic/negative environment as most are unhappy and complain about it. -So many unproductive meetings that their is no time to do your job. -None of the departments work cohesively toward a common goal. This is directly due to the department directors and executives not working together. -Lots of promises that do not come to fruition. -Many extra hours of work required to get your job done. -Terrible human resource department that is not fair and unbiased.

Pros

Organization is well respected in the higher education community. Strong 401K plan. Option to work remote for many employees.

Cons

No business plan or organization. Extremely high turnover rate in employees. Leadership hired that is not qualified to run an IT organization. No work life balance or focus on employee needs or benefits for levels under leadership. Spending too high by management especially in travel for a nonprofit. Way behind the industry in using technology despite being an IT organization. Will set back your career - avoid applying.

So much wrong but the people make it right

Pros

Most of the co-workers have a deep commitment to their work even though the glow of working for a non-profit on "laudable goals" has worn off rather quickly. Slow pace of Higher Education coupled with Non-Profit, so much of the "effort" required to do your job is done at a snails pace. We're empirically successful, driven tuition costs world-wide since the mid-90s; so that's something.

Cons

If you work in technology this position is a killer - no advancement opportunities at the higher education source for information IT related. Management is distributed outside of the office causing a terrible disconnect between them and their subordinates. Over inflated idea of the organization's own importance. Has a negative impact on the higher education community
