I have been working at Elwyn part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

you will get hired quickly because they are always looking for new employees. The pay is so low, that the employees they have always leave for higher pay somewhere else.

    Cons

as an "Average Joe", you are expected to perform duties a registered nurse or at the very least a CNA is expected to do! Your lively hood is on the line at all times. If you fill a consumers glass halfway instead of all the way to top you will be investigated and possibly fired. Your co-workers will be ignorant and lazy as well. The pay is so low, you will be better off working at Walmart! Good Luck To You!

    Advice to Management

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Pay rate needs to be higher. Give a damn about your employees.

I have been working at Elwyn full-time

    Pros

They are pretty flexible with your schedule.
If you plan on making a career in the medical field this is a great company to start with.
    They are willing to train.
    Ongoing training.
They take excellent care of their clients.

    Cons

They say the prefer promoting from within but when they had the opportunity to hire me for a position that I was qualified for, they chose to hire an outsider.
Very little opportunity for advancement if you're a dsp who is not planning on getting a nursing license.
Worked there for two years before we got a raise and that's only because of the minimum wage increase in CA.
    No raises...ever.
Idiotic, infantile drama between DSPs, different shifts.
Inconsistent staffing of management. Constant managerial changes in the homes.

    Advice to Management

Please verbalize your appreciation for the hard work your employees do.
I think at the very least, (since this company isn't the most generous with resources) should give each employee a Christmas/New Year's card with a company message of sincere gratitude for all the hard work and dedication from your employees.
Your employees like to feel like they are valued.

"One of the best for a Non Profit Agency"

I have been working at Elwyn full-time

    Pros

There are a variety of job opportunities within Elwyn, they are supportive of the employees, benefits are pretty good, they as an agency, want things done the right way.

    Cons

Being a non profit agency, the pay makes it difficult to support a family, and pay bills.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to pay employees more money and give more than 2 weeks vacation for full time employees.

I have been working at Elwyn full-time

    Pros

Helping others is rewarding and its a learning experience.

    Cons

A lot of responsibilities and they do not want to pay. This is a job for individuals who are coming out of school wanting to make a couple of extra dollars. No teamwork, do not like to give raises, not a job for individuals trying to take care of their families.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees because along with the clients the staff is what keeps the company running.
