Pros

AMR is a Global company..actually changing its name recently to GMR (Global Medical Response). Almost always Hiring, Often many extra hours available.

Cons

As employees come and go quite often, dont expect management to stand up for you. Its easier to fire ( or temporarily take you off schedule) and hire someone else at a lower pay than to train and keep present employees. Expect to deal with a lot of crap from Hospital staff, patients, nursing homes staff and the public in general. You as a professional are expected to take the crap thrown at you and go about your way..telling management will do you no good as they will either do nothing or say that they will and no do anything. For instance...a patient is to be picked up at Butterfly Nursing facility at 9 for a 9:30 appointment...the patient is not ready..you advise the staff, they moan and groan and take their time or give you attitude. Now you arrive late at the appointment to take more crap from the office staff. Happens daily but you have to take it. Most of what AMR does is patient transport to and from appointments or discharges from a Hospital to a facility. If you get on a 9-11 crew it is not as bad. .but these crews are usually harder to get unto and reserved for personnel that have been with AMR for a while.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
