Pros

Large operation. Opportunity to work EMS in the county other than Fire.

Cons

Worked multiple years in a 911 system in PA before moving to palm beach. I was extremely disappointed on the equipment, expired meds and salary. Was offered a rate (which was insanely low) and got paid two dollars per hr lower than what I was offered, this issue was never resolved so I quit (have proof of all this in writing). Terrible place to work. Almost no 911 calls, so get ready to run low budget non emergency taxi rides, (in other words you won't get to be a paramedic) I meet multiple medics that had never intubated a patient in 7 years!!!

Pros

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Cons

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
