Pros

Busy system with a multitude of calls to gain experience. Lots of CEUs to earn.

Cons

Low pay, only affordable to live with overtime and running yourself thin. No shift differentials. Schedules are not flexible, they added additional hours to the schedule without compensation. Management is not there for you, they only care about protecting themselves and the money in their pockets. They have terrible attitudes and behavior. High turnover rates and fast burnout. Equipment fails constantly and when a truck needs to go out of services they don’t fix it half the time and put it back into rotation. Lack of PTO approval, no sick leave. Clear evidence of discrimination (racism, sexism, harassment, etc… not just from fellow employees, but from supervisors and management). Also known for retaliation again their employees. Unorganized and terrible communication.

Pros

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Cons

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
