Pros

This company provides valuable experience for those new to the EMS profession. While compensation is relatively low compared to the national average, it is competitive with other private EMS providers in the area. There is room for growth, with opportunities for advancement largely subsidized by the company, such as AEMT and Paramedic school. Additionally, employees with the right qualifications can transition into corporate roles within the organization.

Cons

Unfortunately, this branch has no hiring standards for EMS personnel. As a result, individuals who may not be suited for the profession are often hired, leading to a workforce with varying levels of education and competency. While compensation is competitive within the local private EMS market, it remains among the lowest in the nation, with some employees earning salaries at or near the poverty level. The lack of hiring standards also means that working conditions can be challenging. While you may find great partners, many employees can be difficult to work with due to personality conflicts or questionable actions toward both coworkers and patients, raising concerns about integrity and professionalism. Management is notably detached from the daily realities faced by field crews. The current manager, Kirk Schmit, is rarely present with the crews or engaged in gathering feedback, leading to changes that are often unwanted or ineffective. Additionally, employee benefits are minimal, with no significant perks beyond discounts, including only discounted health plans rather than comprehensive coverage.

Pros

There’s a good workforce here with employees who are well united on issues a strong sense that the company is actually pushing toward a positive future in terms of operations. Ambulance fleet seems to be getting good upgrades and call volume (in most areas) is manageable. There is also a good amount of OT available with bonuses/incentives available. Matching 401k is nice and health benefits are very reasonable.

Cons

For being such a large operation, the pay rate seems to be lacking as of right now. Most employees with adult responsibilities are having to rely heavily on overtime/incentives just to have a semi-comfortable lifestyle outside of work. Uniforms definitely need improvements and training for new EMTs seems a bit lackluster. The morale can be low at times also due to the company being write-up happy (for lack of a better term). Lack of 24 hour units and proper posting locations makes for a somewhat harsh work day as well.
