Pros

You will learn a lot here. Unfortunately, much of it is not best practice. You will have to shake off some bad habits when you leave here, especially if you find yourself in the Government Contracting world.

Cons

Pay, management, stress, hours, benefits or lack of. You are in this job only for experience. API is a revolving door and everyone is expendable. In my nearly 6 years of employment there I saw one raise. This was when I moved from the call center to engineering. I was moved to a meager salary and later did the math. If you broke my salary down to the hours that I worked I made less than 1.75 an hour. The engineering side of the house is 24/7 365. You could get called any moment. We would work maintenance at a telephone company at 3am, and then get a call at 8am wondering why you weren't in the office. I would spend Holidays and children's birthdays sitting at the dining room table working. There was no separation between work life and home life. If you have a family, this job will put a tremendous strain on your family life. When I left I was on the verge of a divorce because of the stress and hours invested into API. I drank the kool-aid. I thought we were building something special and I wanted to be a part of it. API has now been purchased by Neo Nova and I've heard that it is even worse now. I didn't think that could be possible.

Pros

It is a job designed to get the experience required to land a better IT job later in your career. You will learn to troubleshoot all kinds of things, really uncover your true colors in the face of stress, and improve your work ethic. It is a very fast-paced work environment, you will really test yourself and your attitude here, but if you are mature enough to hang in there, it's fantastic for your resume, and landed me a much better job after just a year. The people who work there are really fun and quirky and management is constantly having employee appreciation events with food and treats and stuff, so that's pretty nice. The pay is pretty standard for entry level work.

Cons

Some of the people who worked there a long time have gotten negative attitudes and it brings the whole group down. You aren't going to want to stay there longer than a couple of years or it will wear you out. The sales team kept selling more services when the call center was already overwhelmed and stressed so a bunch of people quit at once and just made it worse but they were still selling stuff so it just made it worse, there is no connection between upper levels and lower levels, they seem to only see dollar signs.
