Pros

-The company is situated in downtown Huntsville and you're able to use the parking garage at anytime with your access card. -If you have no experience this is a great place to start but don't expect to be paid much at all. -Orientation/training is essentially a paid vacation where you sit through presentation slides and listen to the same things over and over again. This might have changed since I was in training but it does still last 2-3 months and the material covered is the same for the most part from telecom to telecom.

Cons

-Like many of noted already, the pay just isn't there. I was there for over a year and even when undertaking advanced training there is no increase in pay BUT there is an increase in responsibility. There are no quarterly or annual pay increases either. And instead of paying you a better wage, they throw snacks and treats at you. -The company doesn't reward hard work so your better off just doing the bare minimum in this environment. -Mandatory overtime. -The HR department is very shallow with only one representative, with turn around in response time taking a week or more sometimes. -You get payed more to be a glorified babysitter managing CSGs as an AST then you do working in the NOC(network operation center), this is starting pay with a degree in networking. -Most positions at API are more customer service oriented then technically oriented. -Lastly the workstations are trashy with probably a years worth of crude stuck in most of the peripherals, bring sanitizer and don't look too closely at the keyboard, it might make you sick.

Pros

The people are great. Environment is laid back and everyone was very nice, there was a definite friendly vibe and everyone treated others well personally. There is a lot to learn and if you don't have any experience you can still get hired and start your career.

Cons

Pay is very low and not competitive at all for the requirements. Health insurance costs 20% of take-home pay for single coverage, and for family it's 80% of take-home. Concerns are not addressed. Any issues or changes that require the company to do anything are put back on staff as being something that is staff's fault, even when concerns are legitimate. During hiring management talks about how raises are in the future or that there is so much opportunity to advance internally but in reality raises hardly ever happen and higher level positions only open once or twice per year, which is too long to wait at the pay rate.

Pros

It really is an IT boot camp. You learn a lot.

Cons

But, you also learn a lot about what you don't want. We took about 200 calls a day, for around 30 listed companies. We saw the stats. We barely had any techs and more companies were being added. The pay was horrible and they did not want anyone aspiring to be anything other than what they were. We were constantly in codes. And the manager would keep sending you messages every 3 minutes, while on a call. It was too much pressure, too high of insurance, not enough pay, and not a great work environment. They use your skills and do not pay your for it. On top of everything else, all they cared about was compliance, compliance, compliance. Micromanagement does not improve productivity. As long as the job is getting done, why does it matter that one word in your spiel is missed? People don't like "canned" messages and responses, anyway. Any time a calm moment came, there was a new rule, policy, or an audit. You would think they would have known how on thin ice they were with their staff. But, maybe they didn't get it, until 10 people quit in 2 weeks. But, I did hear that they expect and like turnover. They just find new replacements that can be trained quickly and thrown out onto the call center floor.
