Pros

They are always looking to train colleagues on multiple departments. Good length contract. When I had to take time off for a serious illness, they were completely understanding and respectful. Some managers are great, some are awful. With some jobs, they will leave you to it.

Cons

They do demand too much from some colleagues, for example, sometimes they will expect one person to do jobs meant for three different ones, and do them in the time it would take three people to do them. The system for working stock from the back-up is flawed. Unless it is done 100% correctly, 100% of the time (which it never is), then you can end up with the back-up looking really heavy. If you didn't sign up for the new contracts that came into force in 2017, you are paid National Living Wage, which is great for under 25s, but not so for over 25s. I do not recommend becoming a section leader unless you are happy to be paid only an extra £1 an hour, and have essentially the same duties and work the same hours as a manager. I have known colleagues who left a section leader position, because they could not handle the pressure.
