* The workplace culture can feel cliquey and exclusionary at times, with certain individuals exerting a disproportionate influence over the environment. Employees who are not part of these informal circles may feel isolated, unsupported, or unfairly singled out. * Compensation and bonuses are not competitive relative to the workload, responsibilities, and level of commitment expected from employees. * The organization often suffers from poor planning, unclear expectations, and a lack of accountability at the management level. Employees are frequently put in situations where success is difficult due to factors outside their control, only to be held responsible when the predictable outcome falls short of expectations. Rather than addressing the underlying issues, responsibility is often shifted onto employees. * Due to this lack of planning, onsite employees are often left to handle damage control in real time. Cons
The seasonality of the job means you will spend 6 months of the year extremely stressed and working much longer hours. Because of the intensity, the turnover is high, other than a few members that have been there a long time. You will see at least a couple people on the verge of mental breakdown every year due to mismanagement, lack of organization and bullying/favoritism from the managers and owners. It is not a sustainable working environment for most people. After many years it’s still a small company so it’s hard to get adequate training and mentorship for skills you will need anywhere other than this company. And there are not many possibilities for significant career growth other than a title change that has you doing basically the same job, plus whatever gets left when someone inevitably quits in a busy period.
