Pros

My fellow employees and the work

Cons

Executive leaderships' forced micromanagement on all employees is killing the morale they claim to want to foster. Most of us want to do great work but you can't call us salaried employees if you only want to exploit that designation, but not give us the dignity other companies do. Leadership has structured the standards of a 'salaried' position to their benefit, not the employees by monitoring and enforcing working 'time' (time in office physically) and scrutinizing breaks. Overtime is expected, but don't expect to get time back. 40 or more hours is the standard without the dignity typical salary positions provide. This paired with the increased pressure to standardize against standards that do not exist makes no sense and creates a high stress on boarding process for new employees.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you value your colleagues and the work - those are core strengths we’re committed to maintaining. We also appreciate hearing the concerns you’ve raised around expectations and communication, and we take the experience of all our team members seriously. Our intent is to create a professional environment with clear standards that support both accountability and a positive workplace culture. When expectations or policies are not communicated clearly or consistently, it can understandably lead to frustration, and that’s something we are actively working to improve. We also want to be clear that our goal is to apply policies fairly and transparently, not to create unnecessary friction or stress for employees. Feedback like this is important in helping us identify where alignment or communication may be breaking down. If you’re open to it, we would welcome the opportunity to connect with you personally to better understand your experience. You’re always welcome to reach out directly to any member of the leadership or People Ops team, or email us at hr@agatesoftware.com, so we can have a more detailed conversation and address any misunderstandings that may have been communicated. Thank you again for your candor and for the contributions you make to the team. We appreaciate you.

Pros

There are no pros to this job that make it stand out above any standard place of work. They pay you twice a month and if the manager likes you, they'll let you work from home.

Cons

Horrible, sloppy management with no clear communication. It's so bad that you might think that it's part of the plan to keep everyone in a state of chaos. Time management is insane, you will be begging for work to log your time to on a daily basis. If you don't have a full 8 hours logged at the end of each day, you will get written up. The turnaround is the highest in have ever seen at a job and I used to work retail during the holidays. Everyone is desperately looking for a new job so they can get out. And occasionally, management will hand out some seemingly random layoffs with no warning at all. You will be paid well below industry standards and you will have terrible benefits and PTO. Management is well aware of all of these issues and they have been ongoing for at least 4 years. They do not care because their clients are local and state governments who have no other options except for Agate. So even if they deliver a bad product, Agate is still going to get paid. This company is the worst of the worst. I would work at a gas station before going back here.
