Pros

The wages were above average, good amount of holiday and generous bonus. Felt good to be working towards something worthwhile and working for a good cause. Non managers were on the whole friendly and helpful. Team building events happened regularly and gave a real sense of the purpose of the company. Generous redundancy/loss of office packages.

Cons

Being micromanaged, spoken down to and regularly belittled in front of colleagues. This was very much apparent in the department I worked in (the Service Desk) but I have been reliably informed that outside of that team Airwave was like a whole different company. Being doubted when having appointments or needing to deal with family emergencies/sick children/your own illness. No flexibility. No training opportunities. Childish attitude and behaviours from some of the team members. Jobs not fairly recruited for - if your face fits and they want you in a certain job that is where you would go, the skills were not the main thing taken into account. Management - many of them were condescending, unhelpful, took credit for the work of others and arrogant.

Pros

A great friendly and relaxed atmosphere, although this is very dependent on which office you attend as some may come across as being quite unfriendly and individuals don't like to chat..... Opportunities for further training and development did exist during my time there and lots to learn within your field or to grow with other qualifications. Good salary scheme. Internal reward scheme - recognised for the value you add, however this is dependent on whether you get nominated or not....

Cons

Additional responsibilities taken on far too often in various teams with not enough employees to cover the workload. Dependent on job you are doing, may need to work a significant amount of overtime (lunch hours, nights and weekends) hence work-life balance difficult to maintain. Improvement needed to the process & associated rewards for Personal and Team Objectives set.
