Worst career mistake of my life - Operator Amcor Employee Review

Pros

For the Ames, Iowa plant, the pay is among the highest for the local manufacturing plants. The 401 (k) match isn't half bad.

Cons

If you're ready to feel like a tool, ready to be used until you're broken and then thrown away, then this is the place for you! If you are going on the floor, you are a number and will be replaced when you start squeaking too much. The management is incompetent, egotistical and arrogant. All I really need to say is when one of the core values is "Low cost", you know you just signed up to work for the Walmart of the PET packaging world - and they treat you as such. This is the only employer I've worked for where people not only expected workplace violence to happen (someday), they actually prepared for it because they knew it was coming. You can only push people so far. I lost nearly a half a decade of my career to these monsters (because I believed the line about how "There is nobody out there that pays as well" and "If you leave, you'll be living under a bridge". I left, and it was one of the best days of my life! Absolutely a horrible experience.

Pros

Plant team was great to work with.

Cons

Thankless corporate culture. Deadlines unrealistic. Month close analysis projects never made sense, but it's almost exclusivity what you were evaluated on. Boss only called when there was an issue.
