- Thorough evaluation, testing & pre-screening of employees before job offer - Many long-term, dedicated employees/ Stable work culture - Decent pay & benefits - Recognition/ Praise given for good work - Middle management is generally good & supportive - Corporate support of charitable works/ activities - High construction standards & quality product. What they do, they do very well. - Excellent reputation - Art Rutenberg worked harder than anyone else. First in, last out.
Cons
- Promises of paying for professional education, certifications, etc.... often not kept - Very difficult to change positions or get promoted from within - Very little support for conflict resolution for employees. Many of the franchise presidents are allowed to be abusive & intimidate staff. Staff are routinely told to accept it. This comes from upper management & middle management often cannot protect their staff as it comes from the top. - Corporate headquarters building & furnishings were outdated, worn & dirty. - Upper management routinely ignored process improvements. Completely stuck in the past. No progressive or out of the box thinking. - Lack of progressive or diversified design product. Provincial design & thinking. - No perks at all.
